NATURE NURTURE
NATURE NURTURE
Trying to find the form of myself
I rise up out of amorphous ocean for air
And discover I am land,
Valleys and hills,
Solid mass
Sheathing a core of fire,
Rise up for air, where
Wind and weather insist
On the manner of my clothing.
I did not choose this forest,
Nor to have it hacked and hewn
And over my scars
These alien grasses sown
Rise up for air,
Yay!
Feel the wind feel my hair,
Feel earth-felt feet,
And the ocean there
mute and blind
Reclaiming cell by cell
Its ground
Ground of my being
