Julie has been painting since taking up a watercolour class in 1995 and had her first go with oils a few years later. She hasn’t stopped since. Julie enjoys painting nature, either landscape or animals; she finds her love of the land, and its creatures, comes out in her work.
I work with all mediums but am probably best known for my watercolours. My style of painting is spontaneous and has an ethereal quality and I aim to capture life, energy and atmosphere in my work, by use of light, colour and energetic brush strokes.
My inspiration comes from many sources. I rely mostly on my dreams and inner feelings, as I have done since I was a child. Together with my love of nature and fascination for myths and ancient legends, my mind is constantly visualising new creations.
Made in Glastonbury
A collective of seven artists living & working in Glastonbury creating original art, limited edition prints, fine furniture, photography, silk art, ceramics, reclaimed wood designs.
My work has been influenced by the landscape. I have in, the main, chosen to use charcoal as a basis for my work, overlaid with different media such as acrylic paint, pastel and graphite powder. I strongly believe the freshness of the landscape has a vitality that brings new qualities to my work all the time.
