The culmination of work over the whole of last winter has today seen the placement of dozens of flags throughout Glastonbury, adding vibrancy and colour, whilst relaying the message that Glastonbury is open for business. This Community Arts Project has involved many people who have made, sponsored or displayed flags, many which have a local theme. It is hoped that this may be the first festival, with anticipation that it could grow year on year. Whilst a little later in the season than originally planned due to the pandemic lock-down, the ambition to fill our High Street with an explosion of colour and joyful symbolism has been met. The project team are grateful for the support of Glastonbury Town Council, YEAST Scrapstore, St John’s Church, Sew over the Moon, The Samaritans, The Winking Turtle and the Glastonbury Information Centre, as well as all who sponsored flags.
