Getting published
on the
Glastonbury Archive
If you have material you believe would work well on the Glastonbury Archive, read (or print out) the guidelines below and get in touch. Send an exploratory e-mail first, and things will proceed from there.
Publishing policy.
* Publication of material on the Glastonbury Archive is solely at the discretion of the publisher;
* Material embodying self-advertisement, commercial marketing, crusades, or extremist, incomprehensible, unoriginal and un-useful ideas, as fairly judged by the publisher, is not accepted by the Archive;
* Recycling of out-of-print, still-relevant books is encouraged;
* Collections of an interesting individual's life's work, in words or graphics, whether or not published before, is encouraged;
* Books turned down by ordinary publishers will be openly considered if they match the qualities mentioned on this page;
* It does not matter to the publisher whether he agrees with the material or not. Material is accepted or rejected on the basis of quality of expression and the worth of its content to wider public enlightenment and free thought;
* Since this Archive is free and set up on a goodwill basis, any sign of unfair exploitation of this facility will lead to withdrawal of the material, at the publisher's own discretion;
* Being free, one major consideration in deciding to publish is the amount of work involved. Text must be presented on disk or by e-mail, and is not usually acceptable on paper unless a charge is made for transcription or scanning, or unless you do this work yourself, or you get it done;
* Accepted material requiring significant editing will be charged for (at reasonable prices, by advance agreement);
* Copyright remains with the author/copyright holder. Material will be published only if copyright issues are clear;
* Financial donations toward keeping this service alive and growing are very welcome (send to the address below)! Please help this Archive stay alive and non-commercial. All donations are carefully and gratefully used in covering expenses incurred in running the Archive. Otherwise the Archive is supported from the publisher's pocket.
* Clear agreements, good-natured and hassle-free relations, and longterm consistency are the rule;
* We do not accept inducements to publish material we believe would be detrimental to the integrity and quality of the Archive.
What to do next
If you have material you think would sit well with the Glastonbury Archive, e-mail the publisher, , with a concise initial description of the work, information about its current form, about yourself, and what contribution you feel it makes.
Please allow time. If the publisher is interested, he will request a sample of the material, and further details. If he chooses to accept the material, he will discuss all further details with you, and offer a written set of integrity-based, non-legal agreements concerning the publishing of the work. The process goes on from there, taking 2-3 months at the quickest (depending on workload).

It is an integrity-based clarification of what the publisher undertakes and asks the author or contributor to agree with. If any points in this agreement are not to the author's liking, they may be discussed.
